2001 - 2012
Mark Byers and his team built 3 iconic Australian youth culture brand programs called Insight (street / surfwear), Something Else (womens fashion) and later restructured Ksubi (premium denim) into globally recognised fashion brands, scaling across 33 countries and achieving $40 million in revenue. The creative logistics behind this business meant producing 18,000 samples per season and 3.5 seasons per year, requiring an extremely long and protracted timeline from creative concepting / initiation to market supply plus being an extremely inefficient and wasteful commitment to sample garments. Whilst these Brand models created a blueprint for creative Brand design driven innovation and excellence and international growth / scale the reality was that it followed the blueprint of traditional fashion workflows incurring significant financial and operational inefficiency and environmental waste.
